Shad grew up in Missouri where competitive sports were a way of life. He enjoyed playing everything from baseball, basketball, football and ran track for a couple of years. After September 11, 2001 he decided to join the United States Army as an Infantryman for which he has proudly served for 10 years. A fellow soldier introduced him to Crossfit in 2011 and it changed his life.
How had CrossFit impacted your life?
Crossfit has had a huge impact on my life. I love non-traditional, endurance type workouts. Crossfit allows me to do the type of workout I want and get the satisfaction I am looking for with fitness. Basically just beating the crap out of myself and asking for more.
What’s your favorite and least favorite workout?
Favorite workout – Dae Han (named after a great Soldier I knew) and anything with clean and jerks
Least favorite workout – Karen – nobody really likes wall balls!!
What do you do besides CrossFit?
Anything I can do outdoors, anytime I can go play in the woods I will. I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes.
Advice for Athletes New to CrossFit
You are going to get what you put into it. CrossFit is a progression and does take time. Keep working hard, don’t stop and DO NOT avoid the movements you don’t like.
