Leo’s been a huge part of the CFDR the last two years. He’s leaving us for California later this week, and he wanted to send us off with a farewell blog. It’s been great getting to know you and coach you Leo. We’ll miss you! Good luck in California.
I moved to Maryland about two years ago and immediately started looking for a CrossFit gym to join. I made a short list of places to check out, and the first box that I tried was CrossFit DoneRight. I don’t remember the WOD that I did on that first day, but I do remember meeting the med school crew, getting crushed by Geno, and getting great pointers from Justin. On the drive home that day, I realized I wouldn’t be bothering to try the other gyms on my list — CFDR was the place for me.
Over the last two years, CFDR has been a wonderful part of my life. I’ve made some great friends, hit big PRs on almost every named workout and Olympic lift, and had a lot of fun. CFDR is my 4th CrossFit gym in 6 years, and like each gym before it, it’s been like an extended family to me.
I love CFDR, its members, and its coaches, and it saddens me to say that I’m going to be moving to the west coast in a few days. My life has taken some interesting turns recently, and I’m probably going to end up in San Francisco or Los Angeles (or splitting my time between the two). I’m going to miss everything about CFDR — except for Rob’s stretching/torture routines — and I’ll definitely drop by if I’m ever in the DC area. If any of you are ever out in California, please let me know!
