Hometown: I’m a military brat so I’ve lived all over. I live in Bethesda. I spent a number of years in New Mexico and frequently visit my mother in Albuquerque.

Started CrossFitting? I started classes at CrossFit Done Right last October

Favorite WOD? Don’t know if there’s a “favorite.” I know it’s not “Karen.”

Sport and Fitness background?  I’ve worked out in a regular gym, played tennis and ran.

Any new sports you would like to try? Well, I’d like to improve my tennis game. If I could, it would be fun to play basketball.

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? My daughter, Maddie, started doing CrossFit workouts with me.

Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel? I remember doing some form of the Filthy 50 and being overwhelmed. But I was happy I finished.

What changes have you noticed since starting CrossFit?  Body Comp? Strength? Speed? Endurance? Etc? I have more muscle mass and endurance. But what I’ve noticed more than anything is how much stronger I am in my everyday life. Even though I’m still learning, I can do more in the gym than I thought possible.

What’s your favorite CrossFit/CFDR experience or memory? My first Fight Gone Bad for the Wounded Warrior Project. Though it was scaled, I was so happy that I did it and actually finished.

Advice for a beginner? Just remember it’s baby steps. What seems impossible today will become a reality tomorrow. Just keep at it. Your body will perform for you if you let it.

Personal Goals? Faster running time, a double under and unassisted pull up. I also really need to conquer my fear of gymnastics!

Hobbies, interests, activities outside of CrossFit? Family, reading, travel and my work.
