Hometown: I grew up in Hazleton, PA.  It’s an old coal mining town about two hours North of Philadelphia.

Age: I just turned 31 this past weekend, and still can’t pass for being over 25.

Family: My family is just getting started with my fiancé this fall, but I also have three younger siblings that I’m incredibly proud of.

Started CrossFitting? Finished up CF 101 in February 2011, and can’t wait for the results over the next six months.

Favorite WOD? Any workout that is based on “how fast” one can work, especially if it involved Wall Balls, it is certainly up there.

Least Fav WOD? If a workout attempts to turn me into a gymnast, I certainly have some questions on whether I have ever seen a successful 6’2” – 100kg gymnast.

Sport and Fitness background? I have been in and out of gyms since I was 15.  I played high school football against a number of people better than me; wish I had crossfit then, Haha!  On a more triumphant note, I have completed two marathons and won two Bischoff Awards – Penn State’s Interfraternity Intramural Team championship.

How did you get exposed to CrossFit?  Tell us about your first WOD? I first heard about Crossfit in 2008, but didn’t try it out until now once I learned one of my fitness idols, Zach Even-Esh, speak about his contributions.  My first “WOD” was Snatch practice that was fun and inspired me to work toward a 1xBW Snatch by year’s end.

What changes have you noticed since starting CrossFit?  I have posted PRs in both my deadlift and squat, but what I have noticed the most had been improved form and the loss of 6lbs of body fat in 1 month.

What’s your favorite CrossFit/CFDR experience or memory? It’s a toss up between my first CrossFit Total where I set two PRs, or my first Fight Gone Bad where I set a solid baseline for the next one.

Advice for a beginner? STICK TO THE PALEO-DIET!!!  I truly believe that without the diet my PRs and fat loss would not have happened.

Hobbies, interests, activities outside of CrossFit? Outside of CrossFit, I have the fun hobby of wedding planning “assistant” with my fiancé.  After her, my loves are Philadelphia Phillies baseball and Penn State football.  I can typically be found at a game any weekend between April and Thanksgiving.

Sick of shredding your hands on WODs with 10s of dozens of pull-ups.  Then you need to order a pair of New Grips.  These are great for WODs like Cindy, Angie, Nicole.  You shouldn’t use them every time you do pull-up, because you still want to develop calluses and hand strength, but when you rip it’s take time to heal, and that’s time you could be training.
