When did you start CrossFitting? I started with Crossfit 101 in April 2010.

How did you hear about CrossFit? From a friend who crossfits at Crossfit Lorton

What do you like/dislike about CrossFit?

I love crossfit.  My favorite part is having so many people supporting and encouraging me.  I’ve made a lot of really good friends here.  The group workouts really motivate me to push myself.  Finally, I just think it’s a very effective and inspiring program. It really works!

Favorite WOD/Exercises/Skill? Press, pushups, max height box jumps

Least favorite WOD/exercise/skill?

Ha—I’m not so dumb as to let Justin and Rob know what I don’t want to do.

Besides CrossFit what do you like to do?  Sports/Hobbies/Activities?

Terps basketball and football games, hang out with family, movies, read, watch TV, eat

Goals for 2011?

Unassisted pullup, crush Fight Gone Bad, get under 190 pounds, 30 minute 5K.

Advice for a newbie?

Show up, don’t quit.  Crossfit can be scary for a newcomer.  You will be amazed when you start doing things you thought were impossible.

David nails his first pull up. First goal down.

Workout of the Day

20min AMRAP of

50 squats

Davids new favorite exercise is around the worlds…

Thanks for the workout today. I was dying to try my newly learned pull up skills from the cert. I have a long way to go but I am going to conquer it one pull up at a time.

    A couple of notes:

David – If you have a 5K in mind – let me know. I’ll do it too. I haven’t done one since last Spring and curious if I can beat my time from then (29:21). Is anyone else up for a 5K?

Also, there’s a local crossfit competition at DC Primal Fitness on Feb 27. It’s too much for my level but I’d love to see CFDR represented…

A decription of last year’s events can be found on http://www.balancegym.com/blog/?p=186 (max lift floor to overhead, a sand bag (heavy bags!) course with walls, and a run/double unders/burpees event).

Glad I missed this workout today. You all wont be able to walk for days!

And David got his pullup once he started focusing on it in January. He went from big band to nada, in a snap. SO cool!

Look at his press numbers and you can see why that is his favorite…

Hi Linda– I’m training for the Rockville 5K (http://www.mcrrc.org/races/Rockville10k5k/) which is usually the first week of November. It would be really great if you (and others) wanted to do it with me. I’d also be up for trying a sooner one as well.
