When did you start CrossFitting?
March 2010

How did you hear about CrossFit?
A friend of mine owns a box in Halifax and I saw her pics on Facebook and I was hooked before I even started.

What do you like/dislike about CrossFit?
It’s addictive. This goes for both the “like” and the “dislike” categories. I like that it’s addictive because it keeps me coming back for more. But I dislike that it’s so addictive because that means I hate missing days. When I can’t make it one day and I see a WOD I’d really like to do, I’m disappointed. It also means that I’m dragging myself out of bed at 5am to guarantee that I make it to class (on time) each day.

Favorite WOD/Exercise/Skill?
Death by squats.

Least favorite WOD/Exercise/Skill?
I have a love/hate relationship with most WODs, but I wouldn’t complain if I never had to do wall balls or pullups again.

Besides CrossFit what do you like to do? Sports/Hobbies/Activities?
Skiing, snowboarding, hiking, cycling, running, baseball, ultimate… although since moving to MD last year I haven’t really done any of these.

Goals for 2011? 105 lbs split jerk, 210 lb deadlift and stop standing on a box when doing pullups. I should be able to jump the extra few inches to grab the pullup bar. Other than that I just hope to keep improving in general.

Advice for a newbie? Hang in there and one day the tricky skills will just click. I won’t say that it will get any easier, because you’ll find yourself pushing yourself harder as you improve, but the movements will become more natural.
